Maybe I am just a nut. Maybe I am not. Whatever the case may be, I am gonna ask this question.

Last night on instant messenger I got into a long and very unproductive debate over demon posession in Christians. I just do not believe that Christians can be demon posessed. To me, that implies that the Christian has lost the Holy Spirit or has lost salvation or something to that effect. Also, Paul says,

[color:blue]But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:37-39 NASB)

And if we overwhelmingly conquer and is NOTHING can seperate us from the love that God has for us, us being the elect, then how could a demon, which if it were in us would seem to me to imply that God is not in control of us anymore, posess us if Christ posesses us?

[color:blue]For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, "Abba! Father!" (Romans 8:15 NASB)

I do not think, again, that Christians can be posessed by demons. And I also do not think that Satan tempts all in the same ways. Afterall, Job was wealthy and he tempted him to curse God by taking all the wealth away. And Jesus was tempted with MANY things, but not in the same way as Job was. So if demon posession is not true, then why is Harry Potter bad for everyone? I mean, if you are prone to be drawn in to things like witchcraft and the like then I would think that Satan would ask God's permission to use that as temptation. But if you're not prone to that, and are mature enough to discern fact from fiction...
