God’s plan, according to Paul, is to re-unite all things in Christ, to gather them together again, to bring back, to head up once more all things in Christ. The expression immediately suggests that things have already been in a perfect condition once, but that they are no longer in that condition. But they will be so again. They are to be ‘re-united’.
This is as much a moving article as it is informative concerning God's original creation, it's fall and the long-anticipated restoration. Unfortunately, there is much misinformation about God's ultimate purpose for His creation upon which He pronounced it "good" and upon its earthly ruler, man as being "very good". Lloyd-Jones addresses such areas as what was involved in the creation's tragic and radical disintegration and what can we expect in its even more glorious restitution. Personally, what immediately comes to my mind is our Lord's comforting and encouraging words to His disciples about what awaits them, "In my Father's house there are many mansions." And of course, there is that prophetic word from the pen of Isaiah where it is said that the "lion shall lie down with the lamb . . .". Read this article here: God's Ultimate Purpose. simul iustus et peccator
