Encouragement comes when the believer realizes that it's by the willingness of the indwelling old man that sins and not by the new man, for those reborn are separated in desire to sin from the old man (Ro 8:9). Willful sinning is never the believer in his new man--but the old man (Ro 7: 17, 20).
