I have been noticing that many quotes given in posts are now on a field of blue, and in the tiniest possible lettering. Is there a way to remedy this? My eyes just can't cope with it, not even with my old-fogey glasses.

E_F_Grant,

I sympathize with your difficulty in this matter. The problem for me is that we have a variety of stylesheets which are being used; 14 now I think? Each has a different size font face and size. The "quote" feature is determined by a global setting which effects all the stylesheets the same. However, I might try changing the stylesheet you are using to see if the global settings would be overridden. So, I'm willing to give that a try if you would kindly tell me which stylesheet you are currently using. I'm going to assume that it is either the "Desert (large font)" or "Blue Daze (large font)".

E_F_Grant,

Well, first of all, you are using "Desert" stylesheet. To change it, simply go to your "Control Panel" and scroll down to you see the table named, "Main Configuration". The second item is for changing your Display preferences. . . . Click on the "Edit" button to the right. There are two ways to change your stylesheet:
[*]Choose one from the drop down menu under, "Which stylesheet (skin) do you want to use. . ." and then at the bottom of the page, click the "Submit" button.[*]Click on the "Stylesheet Gallery" link just to the right of that menu. The "Gallery" will open and you can either click "Switch" under the stylesheet you want to use, which will immediately change it for you. Or, you can click on the thumbnail or the name of of the stylesheet to see the larger picture of it. There is also a "Switch" link for that too.[/LIST]Now, I really tried to code in a larger font for an individual stylesheet which would override the global settings which effect all the stylesheets. But, I was unsuccessful [Linked Image]. I did notice, however, that the font size for the "quote" and "blockquote" in the Desert stylesheet is identical to the font size that is displayed in the posts. So, I am puzzled why you think it is a bit small? An alternative might be to try the "Desert (large font) stylesheet, if your eyes are bad. The font sizes are considerably larger. Another large font stylesheet is the "Blue Daze (large font), which you might also try? But the "quote" and "blockquote" font size will be the same as what is displayed in the stylesheet that you are currently using.

I'll do some research and see if there is a way to make a change in an individual stylesheet for you. If I can find a way to do it, I will most likely do it for the two "large font" ones. [Linked Image]

OK, I'll try to follow your directions. No guarantees! In looking at the font again, I do see that it is the smae size. But it is more compressed in that there is less white space. (I'm a graphic designer by training) Usually, a serif typeface is supposed to be more easy to read, but somehow I am not sure that that does not change with reading text on a computer. The sans serif of a regular post is definitely easier to read for me. In any case, my eyes are not really THAT bad. I just have a hard time reading things online for very long...<br><br>OK, so I made the switch to "Blue Daze/ large Font"; we'll see how that goes for awhile.<br><br>Do you manage this whole deal? If so, my hat is off to you. Is this a part of ICQ?

<blockquote><font size=1>In reply to:</font><hr>[color:"blue"]Do you manage this whole deal? If so, my hat is off to you. Is this a part of ICQ?</font><hr></blockquote><p>[Linked Image] Yes, I "manage the whole deal" with a little help from my friends. [Linked Image] The website and this board and the IRC chatroom are my doing and responsibility. Now, why would you ask about these things being part of ICQ? [Linked Image] ICQ is totally unrelated to anything here.<br><br>As to this font problem. What I can do is change the font face to something other than it is right now. Let me play around with that idea a bit. But again, you have to remember that there are people who use PC's and also MAC's and even some who are using WebTV. So, I can't use a specific font only as they are not compatible across the board. [Linked Image].

why would you ask about these things being part of ICQ?<br><br>Seems a while ago I saw something about an ICQ user's number or something to that effect. But I can't recall if it was here or at another Forum. ICQ is so seemingly huge to me that I'd not be surprised of somehow I was participating in one of their forums. Given all that I know about the Net, which can be summed up here_____.!<br><br>A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. So no knowledge must be lethal!

Aaaaaaaah! okay..... Yes, in the "Users List" there is a column where a member's ICQ is either displayed or an icon to tell you if they are online. Also, this is supposed to be displayed in the "Who's Online". But lately, something is afoul with that feature from ICQ. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. But [Linked Image] The Highway and ICQ are TOTALLY unrelated. This is a Christian site! [Linked Image]
