The Highway Forums Resources HELP Forum Log In / Log out

My computer has been unplugged and sitting in storage for the last 5 months. Today, I plugged it back up. The Highway entrance page is in my favorites. Upon clicking the entrance page it displays me as being logout. I then click on the Main Index link and it shows me as being login.

Just wondering why that is happening? Could the cause be that I've been logging in using another computer during the 5 months. The first time today, I login on the entrance page with remember me, and everytime the entrance page displays as being logout; however, the main index displays as being login.

Yes, the problem is most likely due to the fact that you are using a different computer. Your login and Preferences are all saved in a "cookie", which is placed on the computer you are using. To correct the problem simply go to "My Home", scroll down to the bottom of the page where you see the section: "Main Configuration" and the last item named, "Maintenance". Click on the item, "My Cookies" and follow the prompts. What this will do is delete any cookie you might have for The Highway on the computer you are now using. You will then be prompted to "Login" and when you do, a new cookie will be created. That should resolve the problem. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/BigThumbUp.gif" alt="" />

I'm curious. What does the Ignore List do? Its down in Maintenance alongside the cookies and address book.

From the User Guide:

Ignore a User

You can choose to ignore the posts of a particular user, if you wish. Posts from an ignored user will still be shown to preserve the flow of the conversation; however, the body of the ignored user’s posts will be set to “You are ignoring this user”. To ignore a user, click his/her username to go to the profile and click “ignore this user”. You cannot ignore a Moderator or Admin.

If I remember right (a difficult task as of late! ) Adding someone to your "Ignore List" also blocks PM's from that user as well. As you noted, you can access the "Ignore" feature from your "My Home" or, as it is written in the User Guide, you can also use the "User List" to find the username and then clicking on the username you will see the "Ignore this user" option at the bottom of their Profile. You can remove the "ignore" set for a member by returning to their profile and clicking on "Stop ignoring this user".
