I have been offered a job in Lexington, Kentucky and my wife and I are praying now about whether to accept it. Are there any good, reformed churches in the Lexington area? I think there are two PCA churches, but I know nothing about them.

Thanks,
John

John,

As you surely know, the PCA is having its "problems" at this time, particularly in the matter of the infiltration of NPP, FV and its derivatives. Also, the PCA allows various views concerning the holy worship of God which are not in accord with the historic Presbyterian doctrine of the "Regulative Principle". Thus there are many PCA congregations which practice contemporary "worship" unfortunately. So, you are going to have to contact each individual church either by phone, speaking to the pastor and/or by visiting their respective website (assuming they have one).

Actually, the above would and should apply to any congregation regardless of denominational affiliation; investigating them individually.

No doubt, someone will be along with some suggestions with the aforementioned qualifications. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

In His grace,

I have heard wonderful things about Tates Creek Presbyterian. Christ Covenant Presbyterian sadly has gone the way of FV.

Marie,

Your suggestion for Tate Creek Presbyterian Church looks promising at first look after visiting their website. Further investigation I think would definitely be warranted as a possible choice as a place to worship. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/BigThumbUp.gif" alt="" />

Marie and Pilgrim,

Thanks.

Pilgrim: I agree 100% with everything you wrote. In the few weeks since returning to the U.S., I have been traveling and visiting various churches. The two PCA churches we visited had either contemporary worship or two services with one contemporary and one traditional. I found this disappointing. I know not all PCA churches are going this route. We visited one OPC church that was wonderful. Of course one visit is not enough to know if those churches were flirting with Federal Vision or NPP.

Marie: If I do take the job (and odds are above 50% at the moment), we will look into Tates Creek. Do you know of any other reformed churches in the area? We would also consider towns nearby Lexington with good churches and not just in Lexington itself.

John

Well, my own church is about an hour west of Lexington, and we have a family coming from Lexington: Reformed Baptist Church of Louisville.

There are some Calvinistic SBC churches in Lexington and Frankfort, which are listed on the Founders site. And I don't know anything about the church listed in Versailles.

I have heard good things about "The Reformed Baptist Church of Louisville" way up here in NY and thirty minutes is nothing to drive. The Reformed Baptist preachers I have met are godly men and I do believe they will have a place in church history regarding middle east missions if the Lord tarries.

Reminder make sure your prospective employer understands that you will need Sundays off to
go <s>bowling and watch football</s> to church.
