I am not a former charismatic. I do attend a church that is becoming more openly charismatic each week. I have not agreed with some of the teachings over the last two years and have talked with the pastor about what is going on and it is now coming to a head. I did not know the relationships that the pastor and other leadership of the church have with teachers and prophets like Mike Bickle, Todd Bentley, Michael Brown, etc. I also did not know how many people from our church have been through the "fire" schools and visited the "revivals" in Florida and Kansas City. I have been resisting the bad doctrine, scripture twisting, and emphasis on experience in our church for the last two years and feel the need for support and recovery. I would consider your acceptance as a blessing to myself, my wife, and our family.

Sure!
The Highway has plenty of forums, and visitors are always welcome in any of them!
ExCharisma is a little unique in that we're about recovery from the damage inflicted by this particular movement and it's relatives (Pentecostalism, etc). But if you're in a church that practices that stuff, you "qualify" since you may have been "damaged," confused, or led astray by that church.
That said, however, the real antidote to "Charismania" is proper teaching. Once the truth is apprehended and put to work, all the damage caused by false teaching loses its grip and falls away. The entire site is good for Charismatics, present and former, and ExCharisma couldn't work nearly as well without the other forums and participants.
Welcome!
-Robin, ex-charismaniac and your humble host in this mini-forum

Prollins,
I will subject my thoughts to the wisdom of the other members of this august body, but my initial reaction is that you should start looking for another church. I myself am not an ex-charismatic although I am familiar with the movement and its teaching. However if I saw the leadership of my church moving in that direction, after expressing my concerns and seeing no change in attitude, I'd be submitting a post to the church locater here on The Highway.
May God give you guidance and wisdom in what is a very difficult decision. My family recently had to leave a church where we attended for nearly ten years (not for theological reasons--it's a long story) and we had many good friends there and breaking those bonds was difficult, especially on my wife and son. We still keep in touch with many of those folks which is good, but we've begun attending a PCA church in our area and will become members shortly.
Oh, and yes, of course you are welcome. You are the reason this forum exists.
