Hermeneutics Quiz

Found this on a blog I read I took the quiz and I'll say what my score was if others also take this quiz. And discuss what they thought of it.

Some of the questions used some modern terms which I found confusing. In other words, some of the questions were not as clear/precise as they could have been and therefore opened the door to further questions.

Score: 39

Pft. I also found some terms unfamiliar or at least vague. My score was 51.

I agree with the discription of the terms as vague. My score was 44.
As I recall that's my highest score ever on a test.

Methinks that "lower" is better on this particular test. wink

It appears that so far, we all agree that some of the questions left some room for doubt. Of course, such tests aren't definitive by any stretch of the imagination. But if one scores in the 70+ realm, then it probably indicates a non-conservative position.

Like others, I found some of the questions a bit confusing. Which could mean that depending on how you understand the questions, your score might not be completely accurate.

My score was 37.

I scored a 40.

The tattoo question probably moved my score up, and I didn't like any of the answers for injunctions upon women.

I got a 40 too.
Again, I found (a lot!) of the words sort of confusing...and some of them that said "Agree somewhere between 1 & 3, I'd be leaning toward the 1 instead of the 3!

Not too specific.

Ok as I promised I will reveal my score which was a 32. Now this was a supposed hermeneutics test at least it is purported to be such but it is in reality a conservative vs liberal test. Anything between 52 and 25 ranks you as a conservative. It doesn't indicate what hermeneutic style (if there is such a thing) you have rather it groups you in conservative/moderate/liberal terms. And as Pilgrim pointed out the higher you are in the score the more "liberal" you are regarding the interpretation of the word of God.

The creator of the quiz Scot McKnight is famous (or infamous) for being one of the proponents of NPP.

My guess is that it would be relatively low. Why? Because they are incredibly deceptive in their redefining of terms all the while affirming they are inline with the historic statements associated with those terms.
