This month's 'Article of the Month' is a biblical defense of the doctrine of justification. More specifically, it focuses upon the 'active obedience' of Christ; His righteousness which is imputed to sinners at the moment they put their Spirit-wrought, living faith in Jesus Christ. Not only does God declare for all in heaven and earth to hear that a true believer in Christ is judged to be innocent, but righteous in His sight because that same sinner is clothed with Christ's own perfect righteousness.
Phil. 3:9:—“And be found in Him, not having a righteousness of mine own, even that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.”
This fundamental doctrine of the Christian faith has been in our day diminished, distorted and even denied, thus radically changing how sinners are saved. Put simply, all these fallacious views depart from the doctrines of Sola Gratia (by grace alone), Sola Fide (by faith alone) and Solus Christus (by Christ alone) which leads to a denial of Soli Deo Gloria (to God alone be all glory).
This is a short article and one written for the everyday individual vs. a long scholarly tome which means there is really no reason why anyone cannot or even would not take a few minutes of their time to read Warfield's timely words.
