You all know the first resurrection found in R 20 is said by most futurists to be a physical reaurrection of a certain group of believers. I'll go with the assumption that most folks here dont hold that.
My question is ;
When did that doctrine first appear?
Did anyone teach it before about 1800 ?
Thanx

Dunno if this will answer your question or not... It's been awhile since I've read this article by William Masselink, but you might find it worthwhile nonetheless. Clicky here: The History of ChiliasmAnd as far as the doctrine of the first resurrection goes, there is this: The First Resurrection, by Philip Hughes, which is part of the series The Millennial Reign.

Very helpful, and its my pleasure to report that Christian Forums requested a link to Hughes paper for their 'sticky' thread.
