"Who can understand his own errors?" None can to the depth and bottom. In this question there are two considerables: 1. A concession; 2. A confession. He makes a grant that our life is full of errors; and the Scriptures say the same while they affirm that "All we like sheep have gone astray" (Isa. liii. 6); "I have gone astray like a lost sheep" (Psa. cxix. 176); that the "house of Israel" hath "lost sheep," Matt. x. 6. I need not reckon up the particulars, as the errors of our senses, understandings, consciences, judgments, wills, affections, desires, actions, and occurrences. The whole man in nature is like a tree nipped at the root, which brings forth worm-eaten fruits. The whole man in life is like an instrument out of tune, which jars at every stroke. If we cannot understand them, certainly they are very many."

Robert Abbot, 1646, was an English theologian who promoted puritan doctrines.

The wonderful thing is that Christ doesn't always eliminate the errors and faults in this life, but transcends them!

Yes indeed, Christ transcends all our errors. AND... He sends the Holy Spirit who leads His sheep into all truth and sanctifies them by His Word; not perfectly but most definitely. I am always uneasy when someone promotes doctrinal agnosticism, i.e., we cannot really know truth because we are all fallible and therefore we must be "tolerant" of everyone's doctrinal views. But, even a cursory reading of Scripture will reveal that this is nothing but the musings of those who hold to doctrines which are contrary to biblical truth and which has been delivered once for all to the saints; the Church. To be sure there are things which no man can be dogmatic about because of the lack of information revealed in Scripture. But there is a plethora of truth which has been revealed and that perspicuously to which ALL must embrace and live by.

When Christ ascended on high He gave good gifts to men and promised to not leave His own as orphans who would have to fend for themselves. We have ALL THINGS given to us in Christ and here including the truth by which to worship God aright, to increase our faith, to enlarge our hearts looking forward to the fulfillment of His precious promises and to strive toward that high calling being conformed to His image, even in this life.

To be like Him, to not only share in His sufferings, but to know His ways; to learn to love what He loves and despise what He despises, is the hope and prayer of everyone who belongs to Him. Amen, Pilgrim!

As the strongest faith may be shaken, so the weakest, where truth is, is so far rooted that it will prevail. Weakness with watchfulness will stand, when strength with too much confidence fails. Weakness, with acknowledgement of it, is the fittest seat and subject for God to perfect His strength in; for consciousness of our infirmities drives us out of ourselves to Him in whom our strength lies.
