I'm interested in this topic. If our beliefs and practices are based on scripture, and a bishop must be the husband of one wife, does that exclude women from holding the office of bishop? Likewise, a deacon must be the husband of one wife. Deaconesses are mentioned in the Bible, but requirements for that position are not mentioned.

Lynda, This subject of women in office has been discussed many times here. There are a couple of salient articles on The Highway website which you might benefit from reading: - Women as Officebearers- Hermeneutics of Women in Ordained Office
