I am still a little confuse in where I fall in the 2K vs Transformation debate. I mean I believe we are called to be light to the world so that puts me in the Transformation camp, but it is all about the gospel. There is really no help if others do not hear the gospel and respond favorably. We are about changing lives, not so much the culture. A change in culture will follow change lives; not vice versa.

So I may be a transformationalists with the caveat of the above (which may be the crux between the two).

John,

I get the feeling that you are somewhat confused about the "2K/Republication/Klinian" teaching that is being hotly debated. The issue isn't whether there is a warrant to preach the gospel, nor whether or not some type of 'transformation' in the lives of sinners should be sought after, nor the 'reclamation' of culture, etc., etc., although such issues are a small part.

Let me recommend you read and digest the following paper which deals with the fundamental issue(s) of this serious doctrine along with a critique of it.

I quickly browsed the linked article and it will take some time to digest it all.

Will you summarized the Republication Doctrine. I gather it deals some with the covenant of works, but does it have a re-occurence after Genesis 3:15 (beginning of covenant of grace)

John,

There's lots to the Republication/2 Kingdom theory. So it would be difficult to give a brief summary. That's why I provided that document. grin

One important aspect, which I and others consider to be a serious error is that the Covenant of Works was reinstituted during the Mosaic period whereby "merit" was given to acts of obedience, e.g., the inheritance of the promised land, etc.

I have no doubt whatsoever that this Klinean resurgence is contrary to the Westminster Confession. And this is what the GA is going to have to determine, which if things go as they have in the past, nothing will come of it. They will drag their feet for 2 or 3 years and then say that both views are acceptable. The OPC did the same thing with the doctrine of creation ruling that all the major contradictory views are acceptable and can be taught and preached in the churches. dizzy
