I heard the name before, but forget what was said about Albert Barnes's NT notes. I saw some of the notes, or is it better to say commentary, online and was wondering if they are worth my time in attempting to make it a primary resource.

Not really a primary source. Bite the bullet and buy yourself a set, either complete or piecemeal, of William Hendriksen's Commentary on the New Testament. I personally think that this is the finest set of NT commentaries available.

I already have Hendriksen's set.

A question - since Kistemaker finished the set after Hendriksen died, do you think those commentaries in the set are as equally accomplished as the ones that Hendriksen wrote?

I cannot comment on Kistemaker vs. Hendriksen since I bought my set many years ago before the Kistemaker addition was published. You might try doing a Google search to see if someone has uploaded such a comparison. shrug
