I do not recall if any instances of antifa violence in Florida as yet. If they do come as they have in California, I wonder how Florida's "Stand your Ground" law will work out or or if will be used. From a lawyer's web site:

"This law, as codified in Sections 776.012, and 776.013, Florida Statutes, provides that a person is justified in the use of deadly force and has no duty to retreat if either:
(1) the person reasonably believes that such force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself, or another or to prevent the imminent commission of a forcible felony; or
(2) the person acts under and according to the circumstances set forth in Section 776.013 (pertaining to the use of force in the context of a home or vehicle invasion)."

This discussion reminds me of a conversation I had with someone who is trained in marshal arts.
He told me that it is possible in a court of law if even in self defence, the person who he beats up, can win in a court of law. He told me of one case, where a person was attacked and when that person beat up the attacker, the judge fined the one that was attacked, because they could have chosen to run away, rather than fight.

There may be some cities in the U.S., more likely in California, that such a thing could happen. But this happening in Canada doesn't surprise me which has laws that require one to "find the nearest means of escape" vs. responding in self-defense, especially with deadly force. For example, if you walked in your front door of your house and saw your wife/daughter being raped, the law requires that you run out of the house and call the police. Not so in 99.99% of the U.S. We have the Castle Doctrine and Stand Your Ground laws or both existent throughout the country. So, in the above example, or even if someone breaks into your domicile, you are allowed by law to use deadly force. These laws even extend to allowing the use of deadly force off your personal property and if the attack is against another person. These two laws are consistent with biblical teaching. evilgrin

Just in case it may have looked like I agreed with what the courts say concerning this. I definately do not and although I am getting a little too old for physical violence (if you get my meaning gramps) If I felt it necessary, law or no law, I would use physical violence.

When I lived in Canada, my view didn't change. If anything it strengthened my resolve to do whatever was necessary to protect myself, family and others from harm. Just to give you an example of how inane the Canadian laws are, which even police officers told me are ridiculous... An elderly couple who lived 3 blocks from me went to the store to buy groceries one afternoon. When they arrived home, they noticed the front door of their house was wide open. They approached the house to find a burglar in the living room with their portable TV in arms but held at bay by their little Jack Russell Terrier. They immediately called the police who answered the call and arrested the thief. He was charged, went to court, found guilty and sentenced to 90 days (typical of Canadian leniency). But while in jail he hired a lawyer and sued the couple because the dog had bitten his leg when he was inside the house stealing the TV. The elderly couple had to appear in court and a judge found them guilty and awarded the thief a substantial judgment for physical and emotion damages. Consequently, the couple had to sell their home to pay off the amount levied against them.

Bienvenue au Canada! igiveup

There are things I dislike about Canada, However, I have been all over the world and can honestly say I am glad I am born and raised in Canada.

So, you are glad to have been born in a Socialist, immoral, profane, idolatrous, God-hating country? I am VERY curious why you are glad you were born and raised in Canada vs. the United States, just as an example? Doubtless, there are many places in this world where oppression and hardships abound. But beyond dispute, those countries where people have more freedom, sin abounds all the more and the people are duped/deceived into believing they are basically good and there is no need for some "god" who would restrict their personal lives.

So, Tom... beyond the fact that British Columbia has some of the most incredible natural beauty in the world, what is it about CANADA as a country that makes you so glad to be a Canadian?

PS. Don't forget that I lived in Canada for 15 years so I do know something about the country. grin

Duke Kwon at LDR Weekend: Time to Pay Up, Blue-Eyed Devils

by Glastonbury
September 26, 2017

TLDR Summary: Here are some notable points from, and a full, word-for-word transcript of, the plenary address delivered by PCA minister Duke Kwon at LDR Weekend on September 2nd, 2017. LDR Weekend is an annual conference geared toward blacks, sponsored by Mission to North America, an official ministry of the “conservative” Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). It’s organized in large part by Jemar Tisby and Michelle Higgins, of Gender Apartheid fame. Every evangelical in America, even those who aren’t from the Reformed camp, needs to read or watch the whole thing, because most white Christians have no idea of the deep and raging hatred non-white “Christians” have for them, let alone how widespread this hatred is, or how fast it’s metastasizing. You can watch the entire talk here:
If you have an hour to spare, you really should, just to hear the predominantly black crowd go crazy for the hate whitey and the gibsmedat. My main reason for spending several hours transcribing the entire sermon is so no one can accuse me of exaggerating, or taking things out of context, so that anyone who reads it has a fair and completely accurate picture of what took place. (It’s also nice to have a record of it in case they take the video down.) But to get the full effect, you really should watch the video, if possible. I’ve timestamped it for those who want to cut to the really incredible parts.

And keep in mind that Kwon isn’t some nobody – he’s a highly respected minister. Duke Kwon preached at the worship service at the PCA’s most recent General Assembly, meaning that he represents mainstream thought in the Reformed world.

Here are some of the things you’ll learn today:

Blacks are the “prophet people of God.”

It’s time to start “speaking the truth in love” about the urgent need for whites to start paying reparations to blacks.

Ephesians 2-4 is all about the need for reparations to blacks.

The story of Zacchaeus is all about the need for reparations to blacks.

Whites who disagree are “fools,” “trolls,” and “enemies.”

White people are “the oppressor.”

White cops who showed up in military gear to a BLM protest two days after 14 cops were gunned down in cold blood at another BLM protest are “fools” and “evil” whose folly and evil were exposed to all the world by a brave Black Lives Matter activist.

In addition to writing checks to blacks, white Christians must turn all our churches upside down, change our practices, “reconsider” our theology, change our hymns, etc., to ensure that our churches now “center” on black people.

Because, in 2017, white churches are the most dangerous places in America for blacks, and black people are fully justified in feeling like they’re being lynched at white churches.

I was born in this country and that was no mistake God wanted it that way. I have lived a rather fortunate life in this country and I am seeing some of that start to disappear because of a changing world view.
I am not proud of the way our government under the Liberal party is going. Yet, they are just a reflection of that world view. .
Had I been born in another country, such as the USA, I would probably be saying very similar things. Up here in Canada, many look at what is happening in the USA right now and they are happy they live in Canada. I do not necessarily agree with that sentiment mainly because what happens in the USA is definitely rubbing off on Canada and visa versa.
I am definitely not saying Canada is better than the USA, because I try not to look at things that way. I personally do not like that kind of sentiment; Western society as a whole is effected by the changing world view.
Recently I watched an excellent series by Peter Jones called 'Only Two Religions', that I believe shows what is happening in that changing world view.
For anyone interested, here is a link to it.

What you see in the U.S. right now is a faction that hates the founding principles of this country; the Constitution and the Judeo-Christian moral base. There is a deliberate attempt to change this country from a democratic republic to what you in Canada have and what most of Europe has... Socialism/Communism. The U.S. is still a functioning republic and democracy still exists, albeit far less than its inception and how it existed up to 100 or even 50 years ago. But it is still exponentially better than the Canadian system and in fact, I'll go so far as to say that the United States was founded on the most unique and best system of government this world has ever seen since the Fall. Yes, it is crumbling and I seriously doubt it will survive for too many years into the future.

Now, ALL THINGS have been ordained of God for His own glory. And, not but, but AND we as His creation are responsible for our personal thoughts, words and actions in this world. I lived in Canada and like Lot, I was vexed in my soul at the open practice of sin and the persecution of those who openly spoke against it. If I was born there my vexation would not have been any less nor would my rejection of the form of government and its immorality. Fifteen years was all I could stand and left there to return 'home', which is far from perfect and becoming rapidly less so by the day. It is moving toward Socialism/Communism and becoming what Canada is now which too is becoming worse and worse from a Christian/biblical cosmology. At least here, we still have the right to defend ourselves against those who are revolting against all that is right and good. We still have an abundance of individual freedom which you probably have never experienced.

What you are doing is comparing Canada to places like Russia, North Korea, Argentina, etc. which is silliness. You can most always find a place that is far worse than the place you currently reside. But when you view the world through the eyes of Scripture, what you see is depravity, injustice, cruelty, etc. everywhere without exception. Some places are far better than others relatively speaking. And the U.S. at this present hour is head and shoulders better than Canada. But again, I seriously doubt the differences between the two countries will be evident for very much longer. All is fixed according to the good pleasure of God Who will bring all things to pass according to His infinite wisdom and my stay here is but a pilgrimage, a temporary domicile where I await a New Heaven and especially a New Earth where righteousness dwells and sin will be no more.

I am not comparing Canada to the USA, in fact I dislike comparing at all.
You seem bent on comparing, so on that note here is what I am seeing.
Although there are exceptions, I feel relatively safe in Canada. That is probably going to change soon because the world view is changing fast. But at present I feel fairly safe. I like the USA and have been to many of its states. However, whenever I have been there I have not felt very welcome by a lot of people.
I have many friends in the USA and I actually like the Republic system of government. Talking to some friendly Americans, they are ashamed of how many treat people from other countries. There seems to be a superiority complex in many of them.
In Canada, for the most part I don't see a lot of this, but even that is changing. Perhaps this is from the American News Media? I am smart enough to know not to believe everything coming from the media. However, it is down right scary what the average Canadian is hearing the American media say. The reaction is actually quite understandable.
I have traveled around the world a bit, and met many people; some Americans who are actually reluctant to say where they are from. Some say they are from Canada, because they know from experience that other Americans give them a bad name.
This is coming from Americans not me, so I hope you get my point.

Yes, I get your point, which I reject. Why? Because it is based upon YOUR NARROW, LIMITED EXPERIENCE. If you visit New York City (which I can't imagine why anyone would want to go there) you will find people, generally are not friendly. But this would be true in most large cities. If you would visit New England, on the whole, people are very friendly there. You will find people are different wherever you go; some warm and friendly, some indifferent and some even hostile to others even in their own city or town. Sweeping generalities are rarely representative of what is true.

I didn't realize that you are a world traveler? scratchchin

I'm comparing because you are proud to be a Canadian yet profess to be a Christian which are antithetical. Why? Because the Canadian system of government is not biblical. It is Socialism which believes that the majority of people are nothing more than dumb sheep which need to be governed controlled by a certain few. Thus government determines what a person can eat, what kind of work they must do, what is right and wrong, owns those things which are essential to live in that country which they determine are essential, e.g., insurance, utilities, communication, etc. The fact that you "feel" safe (yet another intangible) means nothing. You are forbidden, for the most part to "own and bear arms" and thus take responsibility for your own safety. You are forced to trust the government for protection, which for the most part they cannot do. "Where is a cop when you really need one?" is not some joke, but a reality. Law enforcement cannot give you proper protection and it is the case in most incidents that they can only clean up the mess and try to track down and apprehend the criminals. And even then, in Canada, the judicial system hands out ridiculously lenient penalties for even capital crimes.

Contrary to Canada, the founders of the United States believed that all men are created by God and have been given INALIENABLE RIGHTS by their Creator. Further, they believed that "Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the Earth." (Abraham Lincoln) In short, government was to be small and its main purpose was to SERVE the people and ensure that individual freedoms guaranteed in the Constitution are enjoyed by all. No other country in the world is rooted in these truths. This is what brings much consternation and sadness to those of us who believe those truths and are determined to preserve them at all costs. For the U.S. is at war at the present time, in ideologies for the most part, but even against violence perpetrated by the LEFT (Socialist protagonists) who would have the U.S. to become another Canada or European country.

Lastly, throughout the 15 years I lived in Canada, I experienced open hostility against America, Americans and me personally for being an American. Rare were there examples of friendliness. And what was the source of the hostility? It flowed from a hatred of the MORALS upon which America was founded. Back then there was no homosexual marriage, abortion was openly opposed, etc. The Open market system was ridiculed as was private healthcare. And the fundamental reason for Canadians hatred of Americans is to be found in man's total depravity. Sven Robinson, in contrast, wrote a bill to have any and all mention of God to be removed from Canada. Another NDP member participated in the burning of crosses on church properties. The most attended spectator event in Canada has consistently been the Gay Pride Parades. The majority of Americans, contrary to what people hear from the main street media, oppose such sinful things.

What is incontrovertibly true is that both the U.S. and Canada are under the just judgment and wrath of God. And both shall fall according to the perfect foreordination of God who raises up and then destroys that which opposes Him.

So I take it that you think the right thing to do as a Christian would be to move to the USA.

I am a bit of a world traveler, have inherited a bit of money. Been to Mexico, many Carribeanne Islands, Belize, New Zealand, Australia and of course as I mentioned, many states on the the USA.

rofl hardly! But I wouldn't be so quick or even consider telling anyone that I thought Canada was a place a Christian would be comfortable, never mind extol any alleged virtues. Do you find Paul or any of the Apostles speaking positively about Rome and that it was a place a Christian could call "home"? scratchchin Canada (and the US is quickly catching up) is openly anti-Christian. Having lived there, as already mentioned, I could never say I was glad to have been born there and feel "safe" as a person who not only professes biblical Christianity but expresses it before men in my everyday life.

Oh, it is certainly a privilege that you inherited a bit of money, but from your description of your travels, methinks it would not qualify you as a "world traveler". My wife has traveled far more than myself and actually lived in Mexico, worked in Russia and Ukraine but she would not think herself to be a "world traveler". grin

I said "a bit of a world traveler". Not meaning I have been all over the world.
I guess you could say (other than the fact it took my dad's death for me to get money, sigh...) concider myself to be quite fortunate.
As for the rest, I never intended this conversation to become what it became. I am well aware, of some of the depravity in Canada and hoped I had made that clear (apparently not, sigh...).
Your mentioning Sven Robinson is actually a great example of that depravity. Many people I know (both Christians and non-Christians) do not like what he represents.
Despite what you are saying however, I still consider myself fortunate to have been born in Canada. I am ok with the fact you disagree with me.
