I am trying to understand Theonomy especially where Bahnsen is concerned. I understand that when he was at WTS, he tried to get dialogue on the subject, but they were not interested. If I understand Bahnsen, he believed that Theonomy was a natural out flowing of Reformed theology and Presuppositional Apologetics. Perhaps I am missing something in the equation; but although I believe all Christians who have a high view of Scripture believe in Theonomy where their lives are concerned. Yet, it would seem in my mind anyway, the only way Theonomy would actually work beyond that is in a Theocracy. Would I be correct to say that those like Bahnsen would advocate trying to make all society a Theocracy? Tom

Just to let you know, I plan on reading a few of the articles on the subject that the Highway provided as time allows. Tom

Posties are convinced that there is going to be a "golden age" where the earth will be Christianized and remain such for 1000 years. But the more radical Theonomists insist that the theocracy they think is going to be forthcoming should be now, i.e., as Muslims demand that Sharia Law be accepted and obeyed by all, the extremists within the Theonomy group demand that God be recognized as the Supreme Ruler and all the laws of the Old Testament be implemented. This would include capital punishment for adultery, homosexuality, profane worship, idolatry, and even children who unrepentantly dishonor their parents, etc. Of course, being an Amillennialist, all this is mute since it seems clear enough to me that the world is going to be allowed to express its depravity more and the Church persecuted as never before and then the end will come with the return of the Lord Christ. The "golden age" will be the New Earth after this present world is purged by fire and the wicked cast into eternal hell.
