Good day everyone! It has been quite a while since I visited The Highway.

Would like to have your opinions about the following: Many (if not most) churches nowadays have a data projector that's being used for various purposes. Yesterday I had the experience where the pastor preached from Psalm 139 and during the sermon had a picture of an aerial view of a landscape on the screen. After the sermon the preacher said, that there is now time for silent prayer to which he added "and look at the picture on the screen and think of the Lord".

I was shocked and found it very disturbing. Faith is by hearing the Word and we respond in prayer when we hear the Word and not by looking at a photo someone took.

But I would like to hear from others if I have reason to be shocked and disturbed.

1. Yes, yep you should be shocked and disturbed.

2. No nope you shouldn't be shocked and disturbed... because such things are commonplace among many (most?) churches, at least in the U.S., in our day.

The declaration for time for silent prayer followed by the instruction to look at a photo and to think of the Lord would disturb me, personally. It would make me completely question the validity of this pastor's mental status and to wonder if I was in the midst of some sort of mysticism type church or cult. No offense Pilgrim, but I've never heard of nor seen this type of thing take place in any church I've ever attended. Albeit some long time has passed since I've regularly attended church or even visited. My past decade has been quite a doozy of a journey. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with what you've experienced, but I would definitely inquire to the elders or pastors of that church concerning that, especially if it's a regular practice. Just my thoughts.
