This month's Article of the Month is taken from a radio broadcast by Dr. Paul M. Elliott on the week of 8/27/2017. It is a reminder that despite the staggering amount of disagreements people have about religion and within the broad definition of Christianity which is currently held across the globe, the written inspired Word of God is the final authority in matters of faith (doctrine) and life. The importance of knowing the truth which God has revealed will determine how one lives. And antecedently, it is only through right doctrine is one saved from sin. Myriad times I have written to various individuals that "One is not saved by believing right doctrine! But no one is saved without believing right doctrine." False gospels produce false assurance of salvation in a counterfeit Christ and imaginary god. But it was God's perfect will that saving faith would come by hearing (reading) and hearing by the Word of God (preached/taught) in which the Holy Spirit guides and applies to God's chosen vessels. In Dr. Elliott's broadcast, from the book of Colossians, he brings forth that marvelous revelation which the apostle Paul wrote to the saints at Colossae and thus to us too. Doctrine, right doctrine, is essential to the salvation of the soul and for the life of the believer.
