[color:green]But they did not obey or incline their ear, but walked in their own counsels and the stubbornness of their evil hearts, and went backward and not forward. Jeremiah 7:24 (ESV)
I have only found one commentary that deals with this verse, and that is John Gill's. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts of their own on it or some stuff from others.

I read it and a lightbulb turned on and it seems to me to show the evilness of man's free-will. I say that because the verse is saying that they didn't listen to what God commanded and did what they wanted to do and went backward instead of forward. Any thoughts of quotes would be helpful.
Brother,

It is somewhat late, so I will simply post this link to Calvin's commentary on this passage. He has some thoughts on the going backwards and not forwards which you may find of interest:

http://www.ccel.org/c/calvin/comment3/comm_vol17/htm/xvii.x.htm

If I find anything in my books I'll post it too.

May God bless,

Theo
