I noticed the new e-mail feature that is clickable from the user's profile but doesn't actually reveal your personal address. I wonder what happens if someone sends you an email and you have not entered in your e-mail address for public display on your profile. They would not know that you weren't able to receive their email. There is no privacy problem now if you were to select this because of this new feature. It would be a good idea for everyone to change their profile to include their email addresses in the box below where it says: "Email address (displayed on posts)" so you won't miss any e-mail messages sent to you.
I believe that this "Email User" feature works regardless whether or not a person has their e-mail address entered in the field for "Public Display".
I'm sure this could be verified easy enough by clicking the link for a person you know doesn't have their e-mail displayed in their Profile.
I tried sending mail to myself before and after supplying my email but neither got to my inbox. Maybe you can't send yourself mail? Maybe we should do an experiment to test this. I just removed my email address for public display, so if you send me something now, I will check to see if it gets to my inbox,OK?
To the contrary, I have sent myself an e-mail using that link with no address in the "Public" field and got the e-mail within seconds thereafter. So, I know it works.
The problem YOU might be having and what others would have also, is if your original e-mail address with which you registered with is no longer active/functional for some reason. Then, obviously the person wouldn't receive any e-mail sent to them.
And, I did click on your link and send an e-mail to you. If you don't receive it, then all that means is that unless you have a valid e-mail address entered in your Profile, you can't receive e-mail sent to you, probably because your registered e-mail address has changed, or is invalid.
Well, I haven't gotten the one you just sent and it is my regular address I always use. But sometimes my e-mails go somewhere else for awhile! Maybe some others can try this and see what happens.
What can I say? You have a Hotmail account and those are known to be "finicky", as is AOL e-mail. It is very possible that any e-mail sent from this Board to your account is being blocked as
I'm not sure how you would check to see if that is true or not. But I highly suspect it is.
EDITED: Oooooooops! I saw that you had posted a reply while I was typing out this one due to a new feature I added a few days ago. But I ignored reading your new reply and posted this one anyway! Now, isn't that a stupid thing to do, eh?
Okay... so you got the e-mail! So, it was simply delayed.
Oh, I found all my missing messages today, the ones that I sent myself to test it. They were on my Junk Mail page. I guess the email option really is working OK! I'm sorry to have been such a pain!
