While there's probably a pretty solid consensus about women as pastors and elders here on The Highway, I wonder how people feel about women teaching in mixed groups, such as Sunday School classes or seminars. Does Paul's prohibition of women teaching men (1 Timothy 2:12) apply to contexts where teachers do not exercise authority over men but merely disseminate information and facilitate discussion? Would it be sinful of me to want to attend a class led by Elizabeth Elliot, Mary Kassian, Martha Peace, Joni Erickson Tada, or Nancy Leigh DeMoss if they went to my church? What about female scholars teaching men in seminaries or Christian colleges?
