"Paedocommunion" is the practice of giving the Lord's Supper to infants & young children who have not professed their faith. The word itself is a Greek-Latin hybrid, taking the (Latinized) Greek prefix "paedo-" (in Greek, actually "paido-," indicating a small child) from the word "paedobaptism" (baptism of infants) and tacking it onto the Latin "communion" (Latin for "sharing," a translation of the Greek would "koinonia," meaning "fellowship" or "partaking together" and referring to the Lord's Supper).
