In reply to:
[color:"blue"]when i put my mouse over the smiley the name doesn't show up!!

Jimbo, where are you referring to that you don't get the mouseover name of the Smiley? For example, are you referring to the "Key for Smileys" popup window? or perhaps when you mouseover a Smiley that someone has inserted into their post? etc.

Also, what Browser and version are you using, e.g., Internet Explorer 5.5, or Netscape 4.7, or Opera, etc.??
Key for smileys pop up and i bounce back and forth between Netscape versions 4.7 and 6.2 depending on what computer i happen to be using at the time. Does it make a difference that I'm using a (gasp!!) Mac?
Jimbo,
The same thing happens to me-- but not all the time. Try opening the smiley page to a full page and see if that makes a difference.
Susan
Jimbo,

It shouldn't make any difference that you are using a MAC. However, Netscape 4.7 I'm fairly sure doesn't support "mouseovers", although I could be wrong about that. The newer 6.2 version I am quite sure does.

As a work around, you can hold down the "Shift" key and click on the FAQ link while you are making a new post, replying to one, etc., (I'm assuming that is when you would like to see the name of a Smiley to insert?) and click on the "What Smileys are available to use in my posts" link. That section has the "names" displayed under each one.

Another possibility is that you have a privacy/security setting in Netscape that is blocking the javascript mouseovers? When using NN 6.2, do you notice an icon in the lower left hand corner of the browser that looks like a yellow triangle with an "!" exclamation point in the middle of it? I'm trying to recall what Netscape does to alert you that there is a javascript error on the page you are trying to view. It's been over 2 years since I've used Netscape.
Thanks. nothing you said seems to work but i did find my own way around it.

Great!! Glad to hear that you found something that worked.. . . So, how about sharing that?

Also, I have implemented a little "hack" just recently on the Board. Now, within a post that has a Smiley displayed, all one need do is rest their mouse cursor over it and the name will be displayed. So, if that Smiley is one that someone wants to use in another of their own messages, all they need to do is add the [ brackets ] and they've go it. I use netscape mostly, and find that if I have problem with the mouse over, I just right click on the particular smiley and click on image properties, it will give the path of where the smiley is located online. the last part of it will have the name of the smiley before the .gif. Happy posting!

That's very true and thanks for adding that little tidbit of information. I'm sure there are others using Netscape that will appreciate you mentioning this.
Jimbo,

Thanks for replying to my question. The other alternative is to click on the "FAQ" link at the top of each page while holding down the "Shift" button (this may only work for PCs), which will open the FAQ section in another window. You can then view the Smileys section which has the names for each respective image beneath it, thus allowing you to see the name of the Smiley.
In reply to:
[color:"blue"]when i put my mouse over the smiley the name doesn't show up!! Help.

This problem for Netscape/Mozilla users has been resolved. Mouseovers for the Smileys posted in messages, in the "Key to Smileys" popup window and in the Post Icon table are functional; the name of the Smiley is displayed in a popup when you rest your cursor over it.
