So, what are you trying to say with your providing the link to the two parts of Armstrong's 3-Part series? I understand the two positions. And, I seem to surmise that Dr. Armstrong is siding with those missionaries who refuse to sign the statement of 2000. It would appear that you are questioning John Armstrong as being "conservative" due to his stand on this particular issue. Have I understood you right? If I am correct, then how would you like Dr. Armstrong to be classified if not conservative? That is ALL I am wondering at this point and see no expediency in commenting upon the issue which is the center of this situation in the SBC.
First of all, how much do you know about the issue? The site you mentioned only goes into the whole issue very briefly, and it does not tell about how the present leadership is indeed conservative and complementarian. There is a group called the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF) that is egalitarian and liberal (they are errantists and tend toward inclusivism and open theism). They call themselves moderates, but I call them liberal. I've been a Southern Baptist officially since 2000, and I was unfortunately first introduced to the controversy through the viewpoint of the CBF. They call it the "fundamentalist takeover" but I call it "the return to the Bible!" <br><br>If you want, I can post a few books on the subject.

I have read about this topic in the secular media. It really causes me no real harm. I refer you to a missionary I know who was turned down by the first mission organization that he applied to because who had devorced before he was a believer. When I met him he was involved in a vibrant ministry in the Ukraine. I was a teacher at a descipleship camp in Dec 2001-January 2002. Ask me about New Years Eve in the Ukraine.
I don't agree with everything in it, and I am Southern Baptist as well. I think some of it is a deviation from the original beliefs of the SB's, and that bothers me and is therefore full of contradictions and such.<br>

So let me get this straight you are a member of the Southern Baptist Denomination but you don't hold to the current Baptist Faith and Message. Why is it you stay with the denomination again? I am Canadian and as far as I am aware of (though I could be wrong) there are no SBC Churches in Canada.<br><br>But to answer your question, about me concidering myself a Baptist. Yes I would call myself a Particular Baptist believing in TULIP, but that does not mean that I hold to all of their doctrines.
Blackaby of the Experiencing God fame (or infamous) mentioned of planting churches in Canada. I think out West, possibly Canada, the SBC churches do not use SB in its name or promotional material. Isn't Rick Warren's church a SBC, Saddleback Community (or whatever).

Not only do they have over 150 churches they have their own convention: CCSB and a Seminary!
