I don't know why this happens, but every now and then when I read a thread, I have to use the sideways arrows to read the post. The message is not contained on the screen. This happened recently with the "Timtoolman has left the building" thread. Is this happening to anyone else? Is it my computer? All the other threads are normal.<br>Just wondered.<br>Susan<br>SWW

Susan,<br><br>If I understand your question right, you are having to use the horizontal scrollbar in your browser to see the entire thread? In other words, the table is too wide for your browser?<br><br>

Pilgrim,<br>Yes, I have to click on the right arrow on bottom right. I usually never even see this arrow normally. I have to continue clicking to the end of the sentence and then click the left horizontal arrow to go back to the next line down which makes it hard to read. I take it no one else has this problem? This is only happening on that one thread thankfully. Any ideas?<br>Susan<br>SWW

Susan,<br><br>The only thing that comes to mind is the font size your browser is set for. If you look under "View/Text size" see what you have there. And could you please answer the following questions:<br><ul>1) What browser and version are you using?<br>2) What stylesheet are you using?<br>3) What size monitor do you have?[/LIST]Thanks,

<blockquote><font size=1>In reply to:</font><hr><p>[color:blue]The monitor is 14 inches diagonally.</font color=blue><p><hr></blockquote><p>Susan,<br><br>I would venture to say that this is what is causing this. I could be wrong of course, but that's my guess. If this is only happening in the one thread, then that's not so bad then, eh? [Linked Image]

I just wondered if it was just me, or if it is something others were experiencing too. It's not a big problem, just something that I wondered about.<br>Thanks Pilgrim!<br>Susan<br>SWW

Okay, so the Monitor size idea is out! [Linked Image] Can you give me that thread topic and the Forum it appears in so I can take a look at it and see if I'm experiencing the same thing? I have a 19" Monitor also and I'm running IE 6.0. I have another idea as to why this might be happening, but I want to view the thread first. There's no doubt I've read it, but I don't recall having to use the horizontal scroll bar. [Linked Image]<br><br>Thanks,

Okay, I found the "guilty" post after looking at every message in that thread. There is one that "lazarus" posted that has two "urls" (links) to two forum messages. Those urls are very long and I suspect that the way the board software is coded, it doesn't like to break up urls. Thus the textbox is automatically elongated to accomodate this so that the links work. [Linked Image]

So, Susan, and anyone else who was wondering about this strange phenomena, it's [color:blue]FINE! [Linked Image]

Whew....... and I was worried I had the horrible task of delving into the Perl scripts to try and find some little missing character. [Linked Image]

Dear Pilgrim,

Good catch!
In reply to:

You [color:blue]do run with -w and use strict, [color:blue]don't you? If not, start now, and enjoy life again!

(note to friends of Pilgrim: strict in the above is not a slanderous remark[Linked Image])

Paul,

I have used the "-w" debugging feature in the past. But generally, when I have a problem I simply run the script in from a command prompt in Telnet, which as you know lists any bad coding.

However, I am not familiar with user script, probably because I am not a Perl programmer, by any stretch of the imagination. Because this is just a wee bit off topic, you could either PM me or e-mail me and enlighten this old dog about this? [Linked Image]
