Why was my post of original sin by Peter Pett and Albert Barns deleted, and by who, can we not introduce someone else thoughts as a post? If so please explain why.

A moderator is the only person who can delete posts (though the original poster has six hours in which to edit his post). Make sure you are aware of the rules before posting! The moderators are under no obligation to explain their actions in enforcing the rules.
This is a Reformed site. It exists to accurately convey and promote the teachings of the Reformation. Posts which run counter to that purpose (other than honest questions, thoughtful objections to Reformed doctrine offered with teachableness) should be routinely deleted.

Jim,
I removed the posts and I sent you a private message explaining why. Go to your "My Home" page and you should find the message there.

I thought Albert Barns was about as reformed as they come, ditto the baptist.

Jim_M said: I thought Albert Barns was about as reformed as they come, ditto the baptist. Concerning Albert Barnes: He held a prominent place in the New School branch of the Presbyterians, to which he adhered on the division of the denomination in 1837; he had been tried (but not convicted) for heresy in 1836, the charge being particularly against the views expressed by him in Notes on Romans (1835) of the imputation of the sin of Adam, original sin and the atonement; the bitterness stirred up by this trial contributed towards widening the breach between the conservative and the progressive elements in the church. He was an eloquent preacher, but his reputation rests chiefly on his expository works, which are said to have had a larger circulation both in Europe and America than any others of their class. (Source: Wikipedia) His Notes on Romans is not particularly Reformed at all, judging by what you've quoted of it, which is why he was ever tried for heresy to begin with. As for Peter Pett, whom you call "the baptist," I cannot find any information about him.

Good for Albert, sounds like he dares to think for himself. A lot of this type people end up being persecuted, he may be in good company. When i discovered the reformation i was totally impressed, but now i realize it is still going on, at least for me it is.

The gospel isn't like a factory that can be made more efficient by hotshot idealists and innovators. A lot of this type people end up being persecuted, he may be in good company. Yes indeed, that is exactly what Charles Manson claims also in his self-justification. Have you considered the possibility that someone might be persecuted or rebuked for very good reason? “But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in. Jim, If anything, Albert Barnes contributed to the current deformation of the American church. True reformation in the church cannot reverse the biblical truths recovered by the Protestant Reformation.

Jim M seemed to honestly think Albert Barnes was reformed. I have Barnes' commentary, know the problems therein, but wouldn't it be wise to have PUBLIC comments on Barnes rather than private? There could be passers-by to the Highway that would assume any legitimate conversation about a good, albeit fringe, commentator like Barnes are forbidden here. Although the Highway is designed to discuss Reformation Theology, I do not think it is the intention that this is a closed 'members-only' forum in which you have to pass a Reformation initiation to determine if one is Reformed enough to post here. Barnes has his problems, but many orthodox theologians use his works and quote from them extensively. He isn't Bishop Spong. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Although part of the reason for removal of Jim_M's referrenced post was to due with the promotion of unbiblical theology, the primary reason was because he had simply provided a large block quote, without any commentary of his own.
