To confess Jesus Christ is both to believe and to proclaim to all men everywhere the good news expressed in John 3:16. In it we have what Mark calls the “gospel of Jesus Christ” (Mark 1:1).
This month's Article of the Month, "Confessing Jesus Christ" by the late Cornelus Van Til deals mainly with the latter application of "proclaiming Jesus Christ" in the above quote; the proclamation of the Lord Jesus Christ to others. What exactly does the Bible teach in regard to this proclamation, aka: the Gospel? What has the world in modern times believed to be the proclamation of Christ? This is very similar to the question Jesus asked the disciples, "Whom do men say that I am?" (Mark 8:27). It should not be all that surprising that the answer to that question has greatly varied among men. However, it is often the case that looking at the mistakes and errors that have been made is of much benefit in knowing the truth of what God has revealed to us in His infallible Word, the Bible.

You may find that this article has its difficult parts which will force you to stretch your thinking processes. But as with all things which must be learned, the reward for sticking with the task is most beneficial. wink
