Who would be Hyper Cals today, those such as Primitive baptists, or those like a John Gill and his followers?

Primitive Baptists, Netherland Reformed Church, Protestant Reformed Church are probably the most prominent. HOWEVER, there are some within the Protestant Church who are more moderate and do not strictly subscribe to the "official" views of their denomination. And, there are some other denominations who don't meet the definition of "Hypercalvinism", but do have some hypercalvinist practices vs. doctrines. The problem is, there are myriad definitions of "Hyper Calvinism"; some very broad and some strict.

Tom, thank you for sharing that! I was attending the NRC....and still fight against that culture with my in-laws while I try not to fall into the trap of embracing the modern secular (and popular church) culture.... I also have a somewhat addictive personality, in that if get into something I can overprioritize and lose myself in it.....

Pilgrim, you seem to walk a pretty fine line between theological/cultural discipline while guarding against legalism and works-righteousness....not sure how you do it...

Wondering what you guys think of Paul Washer....is he hyper or just a committed Christian?

"If you are not as Calvinistic as I am you can't call yourself a Christian"

Can you elaborate a bit on that? I'm not sure what you are trying to convey. scratchchin

I'm quite sure Paul Washer does not qualify as a hyper-Calvinist.

I mean you seem to have a properly balanced grasp of these matters.... The various theological and cultural pitfalls that abound

I'd like to believe that with age so will I, but I think my struggles are more a matter of personality rather than wisdom (although I'm still learning) requiring a life long guarding against falling off unto either side of the narrow way into a ditch.... But I'm becoming more spiritually dependent as of late, I hope it continues

Paul Washer has been accused of being s hyper-Calvinist, not because he actually is. But because he often leaves the person very convicted of their sin. I personally think he is very good; yet sometimes he yells a little more than I like and because of that his yelling stands out more than his message.

What I enjoyed is the discussion itself on the issue. I am not really sure that I learned anything per se', because I have looked into the issue in the past. But, have been accused of being a hyper-Calvinist before, mainly because some people believe that if one is a 5 pointer they are automatically a hyper. However, I find that accusation rather silly.

Your welcome.
Was there a particular statement you enjoyed in the video?
Although I don't know a lot about him, I think what Vody Bochkin (spelling?) had to say was interesting. Also because of the nature of James White's ministry, he provided a unique perspective.

Just watched the video again and realized that one of my favorite theologians was there. Dr. Steven Lawson. He did not speak on the subject, but I have enjoyed his talks on The Attributes of God as well his series on the Doctrines of Grace.
