As some of you know, I am a bit of a student of Presuppositional Apologetics.
I have a question related to this from a critic of Presuppositionalism.

Quote
Epistemically I think VanTillian theology leaps to scripture - without first proving its sufficiency - resting an the laurels of “its self attesting”.

How would you answer a claim like this?

Tom

If Scripture claims to be the very Word of God written, which it surely does... then why is self-attestation insufficient? In fact, IF the Bible didn't contain a self-attestation of its divine authorship, which is quite easily demonstrated and shown in various ways using Scripture itself, then the matter of "sufficiency" would be a mute issue. Why would a mere human writing which is far from perfect be sufficient as a source for truth? scratch1 Remember, true believers are given the Holy Spirit Who testifies to the Bible's authenticity and thus sufficiency (ex. Jh 16:13; 1Jh 2:27). wink

I like the way you put that. My thoughts were along the same lines; but I was looking for a convincing way to put it. The way you put it, sounds quite obvious.
