Just for fun for a change, I thought I would ask the following.
You are going into a huge theological debate and you can pick 5 people to represent your side from the 16th century to present.
Who would those 5 people be and why?
I picked: Calvin, Owen, Spurgeon, Bahnsen, Sproul
To start it was between Luther and Calvin and though I was tempted to pick Luther, because of his experience and guts with the Roman Catholic Church. However, I picked Calvin because of his ability to organize thoughts etc..
Owen strikes me as one of the most intellectual defenders of the Christian faith. There are others such as Edwards and perhaps Warfield and a more recent pick Pink that may be close.
Spurgeon, because of his passion for the Gospel and his pastor’s heart.
Bahnsen, because he might be the best debater that I am aware of.
Sproul, because he is a man might be in my opinion one of the best theologians of this century. I love how he can make theology and his sermons come alive. His Expositional sermons paint a picture of the history and context of the time of the writing and then show just how relevant Scripture is to this present day. There are other people such a Dr. Steven Lawson that I am quickly gaining respect for.

1. The choice would depend upon the subject of the debate.

2. But generally speaking, my choices would be Calvin, Owen, Edwards, Berkhof and Van Til/Bahsen.
