Most people probably heard about the Christian high school football coach who was fired for his practice of praying on the 50 yard line on the field after games.
He won his case.

Most Christians see this as a victory for religious freedoms.

However, I read one opinion column; that claimed although it might be a victory
for religious freedom. At the same time the coach clearly violated Christ’s own principle
for private, as opposed to public prayers.
He made the statement that the coach clearly did “this for show, pure and simple” Therefore, he brought it on himself.

I thought this was a rather uncharitable conclusion. But I thought it might be interesting to get others thoughts.

Whoever thinks that they have a biblical warrant to impersonate the Holy Spirit and thus be able to know the true motives of that coach is the guilty one!! igiveup

I'd say these are completely different situations.

The Pharisees prayed publicly to gain the favor of other people. This man appears to have prayed to glorify God, in a culture that openly hates Him, probably knowing full well there would be strong pushback, but loving God enough to do so anyway.

As should we all.
