Halloween being Reformation day, got me thinking about my church. On my church is two front doors, that I thought might be a good place to put up Martin Luthers Theses, which some adults could wonder what this thing is on there church door and learn of something they never knew, or remind them.

What is your thought on my idea, really would like your input. do you have other ideas also like to hear that

In Luther's Day the posting of such documents was legal and expected. It was a way of beginning debates. Today such an act could be looked at as vandalism (nails) or a ploy for Lutheranism (I am assuming you are not Lutheran here...). In addition, you need to ask yourself if you are ready to debate the entire contents of the 95 Theses and is it appropriate for where your Church is at: do they use indulgences, etc. The part(s) on repentance would be great.

Maybe a better plan would be to go to your pastor and ask him to do a series on the Reformation beginning Oct 31, et. al. (he could even show a video: History of Christianity). If he would rather trick or treat then I would put on my ghost costume and just disappear only to reappear in another more biblical Church. [Linked Image]

I would have to say it depends on your church. I think it's a great idea, but I believe it would be better if you planned it with your pastor. That way, the 95 Theses would cause questions that would be answered in the days sermon.

Instead of putting it on my churches front doors though, I think I'll just put it on my Sunday School class door. I'll add it to my lesson plan for that day. I think that would be a great topic.

Thanks Neicey!

Joe,

The video is a great idea, since your post my thinking has expanded to not just theses on door, but fellowship hall covered dish dinner, with video and men who can answer questions, still thinking on something to make the evening joyful also, little lite fun for adults.

My church already has the nails in the front and back doors no trouble there, I will talk to my Rev about this first, even if I did not ask about putting up theses and he walk to the front door seen what it was, LOL he would stop by my house knowing it was me, without a doubt, my Rev knows my ways we're not Lutheran, we're Methodist, and I don't want to offend any church members. I'll explain to them that Halloween being on Sunday this year, it is best to take the time learning if they chose to come. I'm assuming most parties will be on Saturday anyway, so what's the harm in trying.

Thank you, Joe,

Thanks Dave for thinking it was a good idea,if I can get the video that Joe linked, it will be used in bible study also, since the men that attend like history, I know because sometimes one question from me leads to fact after fact coming from them about history, not always a good thing though, they get talking and sometime I think they forgot what the question was LOL

GODBLESS your study Dave

Sounds like a plan. The video presentation is well done.....IMHO you will enjoy it, but it will take a while to go through it....

For games--a Reformation Triva Game (after they watch the video...).
