Police Raid Church Service

Police Raid Church Service - Sun Apr 04, 2021 5:28 PM

In Calgary Canada, police came and disrupted a worship service on Good Friday.

Here is what happened: https://mobile.twitter.com/ezralevant/status/1378506465158303747

This pastor was previously fined $1200 for feeding the hungry; because he was not social distancing.

That video was rather interesting to say the least. Methinks, even though the "pastor" (Messianic Jew?) was correct in disallowing those individuals to enter the place of worship because they had no warrant, his demeanor could have been much better tempered, IMHO. His pursuit of the police as they were leaving and screaming pejoratives at them was really uncalled for.

Now, after the video ended I notice another video that 'starred' the same man and a group of his parishioners in a park feeding the needy, poor and homeless on an obviously cold winter day. He was surrounded by police and threatened and it appeared they were looking for an excuse to physically harm him and arrest him. At least in this video, he was far more civil and argued quite reasonably and logically about how wrong it was that the "authorities" refused to help these needy people and provide them with some of the necessities of life. It was also quite telling how phony the "regulations" on the COVID19 were because the police who were allegedly there to enforce them were not social distancing nor wearing masks. evilgrin Yes, similar occurrences are common in the U.S. too. But we have a blatant "double standard" here which is not so prevalent in Canada. You can riot, burn buildings, loot stores to your heart's content, assault innocent people and even murder cops without any accountability. In fact, the now Vice President Kamala Harrison was instrumental in providing bail for those "protestors" who were arrested, which was an extremely small number of them. Porn shops, massage parlors, liquor stores, Walmart, etc., etc., were all considered "essential" businesses and thus were allowed to be open. But restaurants, gyms, schools, etc., were all forced to close. Anyway...... enjoyed the videos. grin

I agree with you about him not allowing the police to enter and like you I was uncomfortable with his demeaner.
I did watch another interview of him, where he said where he was from the police acted like gestapo and he now believes how he treated the police is how we need to treat them.
The problem however, is I have now heard lots of people take the side of the police because of how he treated the police.

Unfortunately, I am finding that most of my friends and family are saying that pastor James Coates in Edmonton is at fault and saying that pastors like pastor Coates is giving Christians a bad name.
Believing also that as long as pastors like him insist on disobeying health authorities, we will never get out of this pandemic.
I have bit my tongue many times, however I am beginning to believe it is a mistake to keep my mouth shut; despite the fact if say something it will probably result in family problems.

What I am finding strange, is Reformed friends and family are against pastors like James Coates. Yet my Pentecostal family members are completely for pastors like James Coates. I also have a Reformed friend who is saying the exact same thing.

Something that came to my mind when I saw that. Is the police are really getting a bad name.
I also have a few Christian friends, who happen to be police officers.
I wonder what they think of this kind of stuff?

I would not put them on a spot by asking them.

Last year the public was crying systemic racism against the police.
This year I am hearing Christians speak against the police.
I have not been able to confirm this, but I heard about a Sargent in the police force, who refused to serve papers to a pastor and was fired for it.

It's the worst of both worlds for law enforcement today. The Leftists have propagated outright lies about this fabricated idea of "systemic racism", along with so much more, and the need to defund the police or eradicate them altogether if they won't submit to "re-education/training". On the other hand, they are required to obey orders given.

The only real choice, if a cop was true to the oath he confessed when sworn in is to obey all LEGITIMATE orders and to not obey ILLEGAL orders. This is the same oath all those in the military are required to confess, agree to. You are NOT required to obey an illegal order and allegedly are free from prosecution for taking that stand. In Canada, you have the "Charter of Rights and Freedoms" and in the U.S. the "Constitution". Law Enforcement here in the U.S. are under the same "ethics". MANY lately have openly stated that they will NOT obey any order from anyone, agency or political authority which is against the Constitution, e.g., freedom or religion/assembly, right to keep and bear arms, etc. There are even states who are passing laws that basically says the same thing, i.e., the state will not obey any illegal order, particularly regarding the 2nd Amendment, nor will it fund any agency that requires violation of that right, nor allow ANY law enforcement agency, federal, state or local to enforce such executive order or federal law.

So, if I were in law enforcement at this time, I too would probably be fired for not obeying such orders, e.g., raiding a church service, arresting a group who has the right to assemble, etc. It isn't the case as some love to bring up that I am advocating a 'pick and choose' philosophy for cops. But there is no truth to that silly idea. Again, there are established laws which countries for the most part are founded upon and operate by. Violation of those laws and principles are subject to prosecution. It doesn't matter who violates them, including Prime Ministers, Presidents, et al. So, those sworn to uphold and defend those laws CANNOT violate orders that are to the contrary. That is what is required of them... to UPHOLD and DEFEND all laws, rights and privileges of their respective citizens.
