Hey there,
Just wanted to say thank you so much for posting that article. It was one of the most "hit 'em home" papers I have read yet. The questions he poses have been on my mind for awhile now, like, "why do all these doctrines, creeds, confessions etc matter so much?" and "why can't I just live my life every day, I'm a simple woman, no theologian" etc.
It's almost as if he wrote the paper just to me LOL. I think it's high time I actually started reading the Westminster Confession of Faith.
I guess the one thing that bothers me, is that I did not figure this stuff out on my own. I have always thought that if the Holy Spirit is our teacher, than we would learn these things with our own bible reading. I know that the Lord opened my eyes to the deception and false teaching of the charismatic movement and others too, so I am not complaining.... just wondering is all. I can admit that my heart is desperately wicked.. and even I do not know the depths of it, and would probably make mincemeat of any doctrine I tried to glean from my own reading. So the WCF is probably the best place to start.
Michele
