Your meditations on John 14 reminded me of the passage in Philipians:

Quote
Philipians 4:7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9 What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

The peace of God will guard our hearts and minds and the God of peace will be with us.

Trust the past to God's mercy, the present to God's love and the future to God's providence." - St. Augustine
