What are the differences, if any, between John Knox and John Calvin in their theology? I read where American Presbyterianism roots lie in Scottish Presbyterianism and English Puritanism, not so much with the continental Reformed.

The reason why I'm asking this is that is appears that much of the intra-Reformed squabbles roots go back to the differences between the continental Reformed and that from England(Scotland). Is this true or am I way off base?
