I saw the "Emergent Church" mentioned in a thread in the prayer request forum and just wanted to bring out a discussion on it. From what I have read of it, it doesn't seem to be such a "horrible" thing. Granted, most of the people doing it are off theologically, but isn't the idea a good one? What is wrong with creating an atmosphere of theological discussion and fellowship among the people? I was under the impression that this was a part of what the church was for. Maybe I am missing something though.

Could someone shed some light on this issue for me? Why is particularily the Reformed community against this "movement"...for that matter, why is the Reformed community so against any change in the way that church is done?
