William Hendriksen's writes in his commentary. I prove or demonstrate myself a transgressor, because I know very well that what I am doing -- in rebuilding the doctrine of salvation by law-works -- a. clashes with my deepest conviction based on past experience (see verse 19), and b. cancels the significance of Christ's death on the cross (see verses 20 & 21).
