For the last few years, our Church through the leadership of my pastor and a few elders/deacons have been more focused on being more intentional on sticking to our Reformed Baptist statement of faith. This has been quite an ordeal in the Church, but I am happy to say that although we have lost quite a few members over the issue, included two deacons. It is clear that we are moving in the right direction.

Getting back to my conversation with the former deacon that I had last year; John's quote above reminded me of what the deacon said to me.
He basically said that "we are not Protestants!" In other words he identified himself with the "Ana-Baptists", rather than the Baptists who identified themselves with the LBCF of either 1644 or 1689.
I found this to be quite a shock especially with the fact that he was a deacon in a Church where the statement of faith is clearly Reformed.
About a month after this conversation with him, he resigned from being a deacon and is no longer a member of our Church.
