We all probably know one or more of the people that you speak of. It can be very hard to have a meaningful conversation with them as they are cold to the idea of listening. I would suggest the gift of a book if the person is a reader. O. Palmer Robertson has just what they need, it's entitled, The Final Word, less than 150 pages. It helps one to understand what revelation really means when viewed from a biblical perspective. Revelation is a means to an end. It is the way God makes himself known to sinful man by way of his son, Jesus Christ. Where do we stand in relation to the end of God's self- revelation to man? The writer of Hebrews answers that question for us. He recalls how in past times God revealed himself and then how now in these last days how He has spoken by the embodiment of all truth in the person of his son. [Heb. 1:1] The goal of revelation has been realized. Nothing else is needed. This does not mean that God has stopped revealing himself in nature and providence.[Rom. 1:18-20]This does not mean that God has stopped communicating with man through the scriptures. The Holy Spirit continues to illumine the truths of the bible so that the hearts and minds of men can understand and believe.
