Methinks the long history of the nation of Israel illustrations the veracity and the salient warning of the translation which I have embraced. How so? The nation of Israel was blessed by God in that He set them apart and gave them the 'oracles' and the 'law' and the 'prophets' yet the overwhelming majority of them died in unbelief and went after other gods. Remember, "not all Israel is Israel"! The majority of the Kings and leaders rarely, if ever, never chastised their respective citizens for their idolatry and not following the law of God. In fact, most led the way to perdition. IF your child is one for whom God has from eternity set His love and foreordained to be saved by grace through faith in the Lord Christ, then most certainly that proverb applies. Only the godly benefit from right doctrine and exhortation to right living. But the opposite is always true.... let a child have his own way and he will always think and act in that manner. frown
