Illinois is yet another state to soon have a Gay Rights Bill become law. I guess we will be the 15th state to do so. Details here: http://www.washtimes.com/upi-breaking/20050112-041756-5032r.htm

You are correct; it is a bad day for Illinois. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/jawdrop.gif" alt="" />

Do you have any idea, if Christian institutions could be prosecuted under this bill, for not hiring a homosexual?

Tom,

Did you READ the article?

McKeon said the legislation was needed because the rights of many people were not protected under local ordinances. He said Illinois' Restoration of Religious Freedom Act permits religious institutions to show preference to members of their faith. The law exempts small businesses with fewer than 15 people.

LaBarbera said the religious exemption -- which covers churches -- and an exemption for owner-occupied buildings of five apartments or less -- is "so big you could drive a semi through it."

Unless janean has a copy of the complete Bill and in addition she has some clairvoyant ability to know how Judges will render decisions in regard to cases which might come before them regarding the application of this Bill, I doubt she will be able to answer your question.

I did hear someone talking about this on the christian radio the other day. It was one of these folks from some Christian legal defense organization. According to this person a church will not be able to flat out deny someone a position just because they are gay, but could deny them for some other reason - that they aren't of the same denomination or belief system. I would say them being gay puts them in a different "denomination" to me. Well I'm sure only time will tell when some arrogant gay person decides to challenge this and then it will go to the supreme court and all that.

We've had our share of secular persons challenging Christian things. In Lake County alone (where I live) there was a big deal made by some anti-christian man who purposely moved into an area and then sued to have crosses removed on public buildings. (This has happened also in St. Charles near where I grew up.) And then a couple or few years ago in Zion there was a big deal made with Zion's city seal. It said something similar to "In God We Trust" that is on our money. But that was taken to court to and I believe the petitioner won!! It's just amazing to see the hate of God that these people have. Why on earth do they waste their time to go out of their way to do these things?? It's just something. I'm sure we have more to come.

Why is this a bad day? Because we can't discriminate anymore against homosexuals?
A religious school would seemingly have a doctrinal statement that they hire under. Basically this means you can't just discriminate on homosexuality.
Frankly I am not seeing too many doctrinal Dispensational Premillenialist, Reformed, or Missouri Syndod Lutherans that are homosexuals.

Grace is not common.
