Hi All!

I just finished reading Tozer's article and it struck me that this is surely a timely piece! This is the time of year, spring, when a new world of earthly wonder begins. Beautiful flowers and grasses emerge upon the ground around us, renewing the beauty of creation and so too should we renew our spiritual lives, beginning with the celebration of the Resurrection! Oh what wondrous joy we should have, that God has accepted the sacrifice of His Son for our souls! How inspiring and invigorating it should be for us to profess our love and joy to others and include them in our final hope and joy! The article should renew our ambition to open the Word and hear it's clear message and share it abroad as as a lively and active voice, not a dead and sleeping Old Book! Does this time of year and remembrance of this death-ending event inspire you as it does me? I hope it does, get out there and shout with joy!

In His Hands,

Ruth

Ruth,

I like the way Tozer concludes his article.
If you would follow on to know the Lord, come at once to the open Bible expecting it to speak to you. Do not come with the notion that it is a thing which you may push around at your convenience. It is more than a thing; it is a voice, a word, the very Word of the living God.

Our reply in prayer should be:

Lord, teach me to listen. The times are noisy and my ears are weary with the thousand raucous sounds which continuously assault them. Give me the spirit of the boy Samuel when he said to Thee, “Speak, for thy servant heareth.” Let me hear Thee speaking in my heart. Let me get used to the sound of Thy Voice, that its tones may be familiar when the sounds of earth die away and the only sound will be the music of Thy speaking Voice. Amen.
Surely God has spoken to us in many ways. He has revealed Himself through His creation and through His Word. For those who have the eyes to see and the faith to receive it God has revealed Himself as the Creator and the Redeemer.

When I think of a "speaking voice" as it pertains to God I think about His authority over all His works. He spoke and His creation came into being. When Jesus Christ was here in the flesh He spoke to the winds and the waves and they obeyed His voice. He calls out today to those who will hear His voice for surely they will know of His love and salvation.

His sheep hear His voice. (John 10:27)

Wes

When I survey the wondrous cross on which the Prince of Glory died, my richest gain I count but loss and pour contempt on all my pride. - Isaac Watts
