The following is from Doug Groothuis' Blog: The Constructive CurmudgeonDoug Groothuis writes;
After nearly three years of blogging, I offer an idiosyncratic, unscientific, but possibly realistic account of the different types of personalities engaged in posting on the blogsophere. People may fit more than one category or move back and forth between them. I name no names.
1. Emotivists: Those who cheer or jeer or thank you, but do little else.
2. One trick ponies: Those who post the same chops repeatedly, hoping that repetition makes for argument (or something).
3. Thinkers: Those who engage posts thoughtfully with a desire for knowledge.
4. Stinkers: Those who take on false names, offer gratuitous insults--my favorite, "You have a mail order degree"--and, when banned, do the same thing on another blog that I like.
5. Butterflies: Those who flit about, landing briefly, writing little beyond impressions.
6. Diverters: "those who intentionally steer the blog postings into areas never intended by the original blogpost." (Thanks to Doug White, who warned me to got be diverted by such.)
7. Lurkers: Those who read, but do not post. They sometimes email me instead. I would classify myself as a "thinking butterfly" who comes out of his cocoon about once every twelve months or so. How would you classify yourselves?

Sorry, I don't have a Blog. I have never posted on a Blog and I usually don't read Blogs. Although I am sure there are good ones out there. As for Christian Blogs I have a fear of getting lured in by rouge theologians and their bias's. Perhaps I'm behind the times or maybe I need to be introduced to some good ones. Reading books are more fun.

I don't "blog" in the technical sense either. Although there are a few I read occasionally, I have never posted on any of them. Actually, what I meant is what kind of blogger or "poster" are you? Anyone who posts messages on this kind of forum is what I have in mind (except perhaps "lurkers" who never post anything at all). I think the classifications Groothuis enumerates apply to this kind of forum or discussion or message board equally well. The fact that you are listed as an "addict" surely suggests that you are some kind of poster. Sorry if I did not make this clear.

William as one who occasionally updates his blog let me assure you reading books is better. Far better.

Well I post on blogs but I think the list needs to be expanded or perhaps some attributes combined.

Feel free to expand and or combine. That's kind of what I did with "thinking butterfly." I don't think it was meant to be exhaustive. Perhaps I should have put this on "The Lighter Side." It seems to be arousing more protests than laughs. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/shrug.gif" alt="" />

William, I am quite accepting and actually pleased to see that those who embrace the doctrines of grace find themselves "growing alone" in comparison to the majority of professing Christians and that which is currently in vogue among most denominations/churches. However, IF one finds that they are "growing alone" in comparison to those who embrace the historical and biblical doctrines known as the Reformed faith, then that should give one reason to examine their "unique" beliefs with sobriety. Why are they called Blogs? Blog is a combination of Web and Log. And seeing as Wlog is hard to pronounce they went with Blog.
