Hi folks! As all of you undoubtedly (yeah, right) know, yesterday, October 10th 2003 AD, was National Coming-Out Day. On this day, homosexuals celebrate the fact that they have "come out of the closet". My school, being the "open-minded", "tolerant" school that it is, made and sold T-shirts. On the back there was a big picture that showed someone walking out of a closet (actually, its just an open door, but it's understood to be a closet) with the caption "Closets are for Clothes". On the front it had a little blurb to the effect of "Happy Coming out Day" "Sponsored by LSMSA GSA" (Gay-Straight Alliance). I bought one. And I "modified" it a little bit. On the back, under "Closets are for Clothes", I wrote "...Not Christians" and on the front, in big, bold letters "Saved by God's Grace". I wore it all day yesterday. I even ran a 5K in it. Everyone hated it. I was taunted, teased, scorned, pushed around (not smart on their part), yelled at, talked about, laughed at to my face, someone even tried to pick a fight with me (again, not smart), but I didn't care. I got my point across. It was actually kind of fun to recieve all that attention.
In the midst of your sadness and woe, when you are tormented and afflicted, have comfort! God's will is done.
The GSA tried to get something going (they put up arcane posters like "One In Ten Is" and tied rainbow ribbons all around campus), but it fizzled as per the usual, here. I wonder if the student papers will say much of anything?

I tell you, this man went down to his house justified.
The gay fellowship group here at my university got themselves in a wee bit of trouble last fall. We had a traveling hellfire and brimstone evangelist come onto campus and preach. Apparently the President of Prism (formally known as LBGA [Lesbian, Bi, Gay Alliance]) called up a crew and they began to taunt and sexually intimidate the brother. Some of things they did was pour water on his head as well as trying to kiss him. Apparently some bros from Campus Crusade for Christ filmed the whole thing. The brother did not loose his cool. Anyway, it all backfired on good old Prism the next edition of the school paper published several attacks from Christian and non-Christian students on the close minded and hateful attacks or Prism. It all passed with a healed black eye for prism. But at least the secular community here addressed the issue as well.<br>Aaron
At my sister's college (Ohio Wesleyan), they apparently have a "PRIDE Week," which they list on their website as an annual thing. They also have, I learned from the college's online student newspaper, a Conservatives Week, But does the school website list THAT on their list of annual events? NO!<br><br>Oh, and I saw a series of articles run in their paper that says that school officials would not allow a Christian group to be an official club because, are you ready for this, they CLAIMED JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY! Oh no, horror of all horrors, not that, not ABSOLUTE TRUTH!<br><br>Hey, I hear there's a conspiracy that Christians are wanting to take over the world
True godliness is a sincere feeling which loves God as Father as much as it fears and reverences Him as Lord, embraces His righteousness, and dreads offending Him worse than death~ Calvin
I think that the reason we Christians are accused of being "mean-spirited" and closed-minded is because of the way some Christians behave. The Prism club prob'ly expected a bunch of Christian protesters to march and shout and carry hateful signs like the one I saw at one "Christian" rally which said, "Thank God for AIDS!"<br><br>I believe that angry Christians who would carry such signs do not understand grace. I've met a few of them, who've nearly come to blows with pro-abortion marchers and pro-gay-"rights" advocates. If they really understaood the meaning of grace, I don't think there'd be as many "angry" Christians shouting and carrying ugly, hateful "thank God for AIDS" signs.<br><br>The preacher's reaction to Prism's attacks was excellent! And I believe he turned the other cheek because he knew that but for God's grace, he too could just as easily have been a hell-bound sodomite. When we get a handle on grace, it makes us gentler and sweeter instead of angrier and more bitter. Thank God for that preacher's example!<br><br>-Robin<br>
I have that T shirt! I thought it might engender some conversation, but so far it hasn't. I guess there aren't that many people who read Latin or recognize theologians!<br><br>It is still my favorite Tshirt. The Puritan's Mind website has a couple that I like, too. One of them has a quote about the "venerable dead are waiting in my library to entertain me. . ." (not a direct quote) That's my next T shirt.
