The Highway Forums General Discussion Open Forum What is the difference between missions and benevolences

In my mind, there are definite differences.

1. Missions=The bringing of the Gospel to those who have not heard and/or who need to hear it again for the purpose of calling sinners to repentance from sin and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

2. Benevolences=In a nutshell, charity given to those who are needy in this life's necessities and supplying comfort to those who are hurting.

Certainly, benevolence must be given in missions, but the opposite is not necessarily the case since there are many secular benevolent societies, groups, etc.
