Let's take Desmond Tutu's view and run with it for argument's sake. IF we extend his view consistently, then it would have to be the case that God also created pedophiles, murderers, thieves, liars, etc., as such and therefore we should likewise "respect" them in like manner. To fail to do so would be discriminatory and make one guilty of hate crimes against humanity.

The fact is, God didn't create lesbians as lesbians nor gays as gays but rather God allows sinners to be born who have different proclivities to express their sins. We are ALL prone to such sins albeit the desire to express them varies in each individual. And it is this natural depravity which will mean our damnation unless God mercifully creates within a new nature. And out of that new nature, a sinner abhors himself, repents of that (all) sin and embraces Christ and His perfect righteousness with all their mind, heart, soul and strength.

Should gays/lesbians/transgender individuals be tortured for their sin? I say, by all means not. But they should not be "respected" nor given special privileges or recognition nor should they be given that which belongs only to non-homosexuals, e.g., civil unions or marriage. Society should not be forced to hire them, rent apartments to them, etc., any more than they should be forced to cater to terrorists, murderers, pedophiles, or any such types which the current laws forbid. For example, a Christian should not be forced to hire a homosexual if such an individual would be detrimental to that business due the clientèle it caters to.

Now, with that said, it is more than possible that I will be added to one of the government's "lists" of terrorists, not be allowed to own any firearm, or even prosecuted for speaking out against homosexuality. igiveup
