I think most of the men and ministries you mentioned are good examples of what Phil Johnson referred to as "evangelists and preachers" as opposed to "students and polemicists," though who could deny that Mike Horton is as good a polemicist as anybody! However, I think James White (who I admire greatly) is more of a kind, shiny, hairless example of a "polemicist," which is not a bad thing; but, to use Phil's examples, he's definitely more in the mold of Pink, Boettner, and J.I. Packer than Spurgeon or Whitefield.
