[color:blue]The default time allowed to edit your messages is currently 6 hours. What is your opinion on this? Is this long enough or perhaps too long a time?

Pilgrim

[color:orange]Simul iustus et peccatore

Just curious, brother, before I reply, let me ask this: Why put a time restriction on it at all? Explaining that might affect the answers.

Rod,

The reason for the time restriction is because I don't want someone to be able to change a post, let's say 3 days after it was written, to remove something written that lot's of people have responded to, because of what was initially written.

The whole purpose of allowing users to edit their messages is one of convenience and compassion... knowing that sometimes there was a poorly phrased sentence, missed spelling errors, typos, etc. that most people would like to be able to change within a short period of time after the message has been posted. In other words, it's a courtesy extended born out of my own experience and wanting to extend to others. Pilgrim,

I suspected as much. I do know that often I realized I said something on the old board that didn't come out right and the time to edit was so short that, "after incubation", I couldn't go back and alter it. Why not leave the six hour limit for now and see if it causes abuses?

calvin,

The forums on Hotboards only had a 30 minute envelope for editing for regular visitors. I found this to be far too short a time period. This software allows me to vary this time to whatever I choose; from 0 to infinite. [Linked Image] I am trying to set it so that it is reasonable but not too long... hehe. Thanks for the input.

Da Pilgrim

[color:orange]Simul iustus et peccatore
