Question 34. Wherefore callest thou him "our Lord"?
Answer: Because he hath redeemed us, both soul and body, from all our sins, not with silver or gold, but with his precious blood, and has delivered us from all the power of the devil; and thus has made us his own property. (a)
(a) 1 Pet.1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
1 Pet.1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
1 Pet.2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
1 Cor.6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
1 Cor.7:23 Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.
1 Tim.2:6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
